Karlskrona municipality has created a Smart city forum for gathering actors in the city that can help develop Karlskrona into a smart city. The municipality invited around 30 representatives from ICT companies, the university, county council, science park and several authorities located in Karlskrona.
The smart city forum takes place two times a year, where they present both challenges from the municipality, but also ongoing developments in progress in cooperation with the forum actors. The initiative has been very well received and it will be continued.
Actors in the city need to work more closely together and this is why Karlskrona has initiated a closer cooperation where together it can be better understood what are the challenges and develop joint solutions.
The forum is, in it´s simplicity, a way of inviting and approaching business and has resulted in concrete projects that, in many cases, led to finished products.
Examples of IoT solutions are sensors for reading water temperature, the sensor is in a buoy that connects via LoRa. They show the water temperature on the web as well as providing open data. Another example is a parking sensor under the parking lot which detects whether a car is parked or not via magnetism.
