In order to help the elderly to maintain social contact during the coronavirus crisis, the City of Nice (France) has equiped retirement homes with digital equipment.
The elderly who are in retirement homes (EHPAD in French) are particularly isolated during the lockdown as the visits to the homes have been suspended due to the high risk of the residents. Therefore, the digital material provided by the City is essential to allow the residents to communicate with their relatives and to stay connected with the outside world.
All the retirement homes managed by the Municpality are now equiped with a computer room, several screens and dedicated wifi connections. The Municipality has also contacted the private retirement homes to accompany them towards similar measures.
