In response to the non-respect of the lockdown, a drone has been deployed on the Azur coast by the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture.
The drone is charged to uphold the sanitary measures by broadcasting audio messages through its speaker, with a power of 120 dB. It hammers the population with the safety instructions and reminds them that all the non-essential movements out of the housing are not allowed.
It is not used to film or to fine citizens, but only to remind them the sanitary measures to be respected. So far, two zones are overflown by the drone: the city centre of Cannes and the Promenade des Anglais on the seaside in Nice.
The drone is the product of the company Drone06, a company mandated by the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture to assist the local police in the enforcement of the lockdown.
