COVID Tracker app is the Irish app developed to trace the spread of coronavirus in Ireland. It is a free and easy-to-use app that notifies the user if s/he has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus and advice on the behavior to adapt to protect others.
The idea is to identify people who might be infected before they come in contact with others. In this regard, the app takes maximum 3 hours to inform someone of a risky contact, and ensures that all recent interactions of this person are notified, whether they know each other or not.
The user is notified by a phone call or an alert in the app itself. In order to protect the privacy of users, the app does not collect the name, age and address of the users, can not be used to track the location of users, nor if they respect the sanitary measures, and cannot be used to identify people-at-risk and their close contacts.
