Las Rozas is one of the largest townships and municipalities in the autonomous community of Madrid, Spain.
“Las Rozas por el clima” was a project launched by the city to take steps tackling climate change. Las Rozas sought to improve its energy efficiency through improvements to street lightning, while also installing 180 solar panels Today, these solar panels provide 15% of the energy consumed in the municipal building of “El Cantizal”. The project also promoted sustainable urban mobility through various means, including the promotions of both car sharing and public transport, as well as annual awareness campaigns in the European Week of Sustainable Urban Mobility.
The “Local Climate Change Strategy for 2014-2020" approved before the end of the previous initiative, ensures the continuity of the work being done in the city and sets new objectives for the future.
