Karlskrona is the capital of Blekinge County in the south of Sweden. Listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, Karlskrona is Sweden's only baroque city and is host to the country's sole naval base. Strategically positioned in the Baltic Sea, the city’s port attracts much investment, allowing it to become a springboard for international commerce. Karlskrona was named Sweden’s second-best Digitalisation Municipality in 2017.
Karlskrona Baltic Port provides access to new markets and contributes to the city’s development as a tourist destination. The city hosts around fifty high-tech companies that develop mobile solutions and wireless services, including global leaders such as Ericsson. Karlskrona’s activities are diverse, with international manufacturing companies and the naval base operating side-by-side with smaller local companies.
With a clear vision of its future outlined in the Vision Karlskrona 2030 roadmap, Karlskrona is committed to the growth of its population, economy and tourism industry.
Karlskrona was a participant city in the DCC.
