Automatic pedestrian crossing

The City of Sydney decided rolling out automated pedestrian crossings to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus.

More specifically, all pedestrian crossings and traffic lights in the Central Business District (CBD) will be automated to avoid people having to touch surfaces to crossroads.

Other authorities are following in the footsteps of this initiative: Transport for New South Wales plans to widening this practice to the whole Sydney area, as well as Queensland State authorities also announced their intention of implementing automated crossings in built-up areas.
